Napoleon

About a week ago I was starting this book called "The Weight of Glory," and I read the long introduction about the author, C.S. Lewis. It was the sort that tries to fluff-up the author to make you a little more interested. But even so, it especially interested me because it talked about the character of C.S. Lewis when he was in his last days.

Obviously he's a smart dude, but it was interesting that in his last days, sick as a fish out of water, he was pulling a bunch of pranks on people. Not cruel pranks or pranks that are done as a last effort to annoy the people you don't like very much: C.S. Lewis pulled the pranks in the wittiest and most selfless ways. They were trying to cheer up the sad moments, and brighten up the dullest days. He surrounded his nurse, who was sleeping in bed, with so many books that it filled the nurse's room up, from floor to ceiling. When the nurse woke up, he found himself enclosed with the books and basically flipped his lid. I just found that interesting. And anyhow, it made me realize that it's possible to be wise and be cool at the same time.

A Jr. Higher asked me recently, "Is it possible to be wise and still be cool?" Cela told me that the Jr. Highers would naturally think I was the coolest person in the world.. so I asked him a question, "Do you think I'm cool?" I was shocked when he goes, "Well, yeah, totally." So then I asked, "Do you think I'm wise?" That much I hoped for. He goes, "Yeah." So, I told him, "There you go. It's possible." And it seemed like he was content with that answer. And I'm really content with that answer, because as the years go on he'll realize that I'm not nearly as cool or as wise as he thought. Hopefully he'll just forget all about "cool" or "wise" and have an easier time in High School =)

For me, there is a lot going on in my heart. "The Weight of Glory" is such an amazing title, because who would think that Glory is heavy? Well, I know that it's heavy because I can only hold a tiny bit of my own before it slips out of my grasp. It's something that we're not meant to have here on earth: I don't think we're good enough to hold it. Or at least not much of it. Only enough so that we can give it to somebody else.

Anyhow, I hope you all have a great day. Read "The Weight of Glory" as a challenge sometime. It'll show you how much God loves you.
